Kellsie + Chad’s Wedding at Events On Jackson was the perfect way to start my spring season this year. If you missed their amazing e-sesh, check it out here!
These two threw a party for the ages – with a grand entrance that was so unique! In the (over) fifteen years I’ve photographed weddings I’ve never seen an entrance like theirs! But before we get to that, let’s check out the beginning of their day!
Getting Ready
While I was with Kellsie + her crew at the downtown Hilton Garden Inn, my second photographer + assistant were getting the guys ready at the venue. We texted to let them know Kellsie was on her way over so that Shelly (my assistant) could make sure to keep Chad tucked away before their first look followed by a few portraits.
Family Portraits
Kellsie + Chad opted to have their family portraits before the ceremony so that we could focus on their portraits during the cocktail hour. They also really wanted to have a moment to themselves after their ceremony – which I looooved the idea of that! So, we made that happen for them. Family portraits were fun, casual + we quickly go through them so everyone could enjoy the day.
Every wedding is gone in a flash! This one was no different, but instead of rushing from one task to the next, Kellsie + Chad really wanted to enjoy their day with their favorite people. So we had a loose timeline + made sure to allow plenty of room for the day to unfold as it was meant to.
Married Portraits
City portraits are always so much fun! I love the challenge of creating editorial + story telling imagery within the confines of buildings + streets. Kellsie + Chad rocked their portraits + we had so much fun taking a quick walk around the block before they joined their cocktail hour.
The Party
The reception decor was full of candles + I had a blast photographing those. Lighting of all kinds, even candles, makes a huge difference in the ambiance of your reception + how it photographs.
Kellsie + Chad’s Wedding at Events On Jackson was a supreme party once the music got started. This grand entrance was to a song I’d never heard, but this crew was head banging + thrashing like they were in a mosh pit. It was a blast! The party continued + I think I saw every single guest on the dance floor at least once!
