This Tropical Inspired Wedding in the Southwest was a dreamy blend of color with all shades of pink, coral + blue! Julie + Tyler don’t live in Phoenix, + neither do any of their guests. This was a true Southwest destination wedding! Tyler loves golf + took advantage of the amazing course at Kiva Club, the morning of their wedding. Luckily he didn’t get much of a sunburn, because even in April the Phoenix sun is a powerful force!
Julie + Tyler’s family were so incredibly welcoming + thoughtful! The whole day we were with them, we felt like family too! We started the day photographing the details, as we always do! Julie’s dad was so thoughtful + came over to ask if we needed anything + to compliment our work. So fucking sweet, right?! The entire day was the same! We enjoyed short chats throughout the day + partied with them all night! What an amazing crew!
Julie + Tyler’s tropical inspired wedding at Kiva Club in Peoria was lush, green + full of so much color! They incorporated tropical + southwest elements into their details + florals. If you thought combining palm trees AND cactus wasn’t an option – well, think again! This wedding perfectly combined the couple’s love of BOTH elements!
Tropical Inspired, But in the Southwest!
The tropical theme extended throughout their wedding. Even Tyler’s custom suit from Indiochino was tropical, with a palm leaf print on the inside lining! He also had it embroidered with their favorite phrase “To The Moon”. The groomsmen gifts were stylish + chic metal koozies + fit with their elegant tropical inspired wedding.
This tropical inspired wedding was at the perfect venue for the theme. Julie got ready inside the “bride’s room” at Kiva club, but we opted for photos outside of it, in the back area. It totally fit her tropical vibe with those bird of paradise plants + palm trees! Her mom + sister + helped her get ready + all her besties were there with her to enjoy the beginning of her day!
The First Look + Portraits
I love a first look! Especially when my couple chooses to read their vows together. It’s soooo fukken sweet!!! First looks always create incredible portraits + this one was no different! Plus we got loads of time for fun photos with their I Do Crew!
Emotional First Looks with a Dad + his Daughters
Before the ceremony, Julie + her sis had a first look with dad. It was impromptu + I loved that! Being a photographer for so long + learning how to do my job well, in all technical terms, is easy in a sense. The aspect of photography that I am still learning to embrace, over 15 years later, is the imperfect, out of focus moments that really bring a story to life. The raw + the real that the camera just couldn’t really get it’s shit together for, haha! These images make you feel more + it’s ok that they’re not technically perfect, in fact it’s better. That’s what I’m trying to embrace, anyway.
A Tropical Wedding with an Oyster Ceremony!
This Tropical Inspired Wedding in the Southwest had an Oyster Ceremony! Julie + Tyler had a uniquely tropical arrangement over their arch, full of palm leaves + succulents. It was incredible. The aisle was decorated with brightly colored petals + even a few full roses floating in the grass. TWW Events really nailed this one! Since the couple read their vows privately, the full ceremony was quick, but it made more time for the oyster unity ceremony! I loooved this idea. So unique + so special to Julie + Tyler.
Tropical Romantic Portraits in the Southwest
Portraits with my couple are high on the list of faves. Kiva Club has so many beautiful spots among their grounds, even in a time crunch we can capture A LOT of great portraits! These two were so happy to be married that our job was easy!
Tropical Family Photos, Cocktail Hour + THE PARTAYYY
This crew knows how to do a party right! The cocktail hour apps were incredible, they had custom signature cocktails + oysters! They thought of everything to really bring parts of themselves into their wedding day! We really enjoyed every part of it! Scroll all the way to the bottom for all the vendors!
Tropical + Southwest Elements Combined Creating an Elegant + Colorful Reception
Gaahhh these colors are just too good! If you ever thought hot pink was out of style, this proves you soooo wrong! The mix of pinks + corals with the lush greenery really brought that tropical vibe to the Southwest in the desert of Phoenix.
